[MOUNT DORA, FL / U.S.A.] –– Steve Hillier released an EP titled Walking In New Orleans on March 21, 2025. It was recorded using studio musicians from France, the United States and Brazil. Encouraged by fans and fellow musicians, Steve recorded and produced this EP with the help of an online site - fiverr.com. The songs go back as far as 1971,  and the lyrics reflect the sixties love and peace philosophy, our need to exhibit greater humanity and tolerance toward each other and hints of spirituality. All the songs were written by Stephen Lawrence Hillier aka Steve Hillier.

Starting out the album with a Jazz-Rock instrumental, Steve is assisted by Rafael Freitas on Bass Guitar,   Zamm Kenoby on drums and features Steve Giddings on lead guitar. The EP progresses through singles released between February 2024 and January 2025. Then the EP goes out with another version of the instrumental Walking In New Orleans, only this time featuring Abel Boquera on Hammond organ as well as Steve Giddings on guitar. A family vacation in New Orleans inspired the cover art by the very talented Leraynne S, a well known book illustrator and artist.

A Deeper Dive into the EP

The second song on the EP, Every Night, features Mike Noegraf on lead guitar with a sizzling solo that leaves the listener wanting to hear more. And Mike’s great guitar work is back on the following song, Love For The Individual Passerby, the oldest song in this collection. Then Steve, with just the help of Zamm Kenoby on drums, sings his newest composition “Things On My Mind (Ocean)”. This is his most personal song to date that reflects his views on the spiritual nature of man and the endless river or “ocean” of life. He follows this song up with “Everybody Knows (I Love You), featuring the very talented saxophonist Claudio Jr De Rosa. 

The songs on this release are full of surprises both musically and lyrically. Steve Hillier displayed an expansive keyboard vocabulary from beautiful melodic synth leads in Everybody Knows (I Love You) to jazz and blues piano on Walking In New Orleans. And then there was the beautiful acoustic piano and strings of “Things On My Mind (Ocean)”. Steve plays some organ on Love For The Individual Passerby, but decided to enlist the real Hammond sound and artistry of Abel Boquera to more closely re-create his original instrumental C Jam, now renamed Walking In New Orleans (Revisited).
